9 beautiful places to visit best in december month

  1. Zermatt, Switzerland
  2. Kyoto, Japan
  3. Reykjavik, Iceland
  4. Tenerife, Canary Islands
  5. Buenos Aires, Argentina
  6. Salzburg, Austria
  7. Hong Kong
  8. Munich, Germany
  9. Tokyo, Japan

1. Zermatt, Switzerland

Zermatt has a great ski resort thanks to its extensive and excellent ski slope system, a vibrant and charming ski village and dramatic scenery featuring the Matterhorn. Every skier should put Zermatt on their bucket list.

This car-free village at the end of a long, narrow valley can only be reached by train. As you make your way up to the valley’s top, anticipation grows as you pass the mountain ranges.

You will arrive at the train station in the middle of town. An electric taxi or a horse-drawn carriage can take you to your hotel.

The small town centre has cobbled streets with large hotels, restaurants, and bars. As you move from the centre, the narrow, snowy streets become more crowded with hotels and chalets.

Many are located along the Gornera River that divides Zermatt in two. It’s not uncommon to see people doing their daily chores and school children running through the streets of Zermatt. The majority of residents are tourists.

Zermatt is easily accessible on foot. The scenery and historical buildings make it even more enjoyable. Every walk during daylight is punctuated by numerous photo stops to capture different views of Matterhorn. [Is December suitable for travelling?]

2. Kyoto, Japan

After spending a few days in Tokyo, we travelled to Kyoto and saw the cherry blossoms. It was my third visit to Kyoto, but I still managed to create an itinerary that included all of the “star attractions” while also visiting some new places.

Kyoto is a city where you can easily explore for two weeks and discover new temples, gardens, and restaurants.

In my previous trips, I sat in the Fuji view section of the bullet train but could only see a misty fog. We were lucky this time.

On the way to Kyoto, we had a spectacular view of Mount Fuji. It was truly unique to turn a corner and see the entire height of Mount Fuji dominating the town below.

The ANA Crowne Plaza was our hotel of choice during this stay. The price was around USD 100 per night, including breakfast. Even though I would have preferred to stay at a Hyatt or Westin, the price was hard to beat!

We could not find the shuttle bus stop after making multiple laps around Kyoto Station. A bright pink bus came around the corner and stopped directly before us.

We were lucky. No visible signs indicate where the stop is. [Is December suitable for travelling?]

3. Reykjavik, Iceland

The trip was part of my 0th birthday celebrations. It was booked with Avios and the Companion Voucher. So, the total cost for Club Europe was PS100.

My last CE experience was not very optimistic. It’s the same as the economy class, except the middle seat is blocked off.

This means you don’t have to compete with other passengers for the armrests or wake up on someone else’s shoulder.

The meals are also good, and the cutlery is decent, but I wouldn’t pay more for a cash ticket on the three-hour flight between Heathrow and Reykjavik.

This particular route leaves at 7:40 in the morning. It is a ridiculous time to check-in. Especially when you must spend time in the lounge and arrive at Terminal 5 at 05:30.

The upside is that from the moment I left my car at the parking company in front of the Sofitel until I was in the lounge, it took me no more than 20 minutes.

I can’t remember the last time I went through security and bag drop so quickly. [Is December suitable for travelling?]

4. Tenerife, Canary Islands

I have been to Tenerife and stayed at Neptuno apartments for the last three trips. Basic, but clean. The staff were accommodating.

The cleaners are my main complaint: they make a lot of morning noise, which is annoying if you suffer from a headache.

They don’t understand the rules (Do not disturb/not molesten). I complained and was told that all cleaning was outsourced to an external company.

It must be the island’s loudest, doziest, and least welcoming company. It’s very competitive in Las Americas, so if restaurants or bars are not up to par, they will not last long.

Last weekend, I returned from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, my first “side trip” for this year. It lasted three days. Hanna, my best friend from high school, was in Tenerife for a work trip. She had a free day at the end.

It was Hanna’s first trip to Europe and my first visit to the Canary Islands. I booked a flight impulsively to Tenerife for her to spend a day.

Although I’d been to Mallorca in Spain’s other island group last year, I didn’t know what to expect. [Is December suitable for travelling?]

5. Buenos Aires, Argentina

Like many Buenos Aires districts, Palermo has a mix of posh and well-maintained buildings, sidewalks, and buildings in poor repair.

But, The Vitrum is clean and well maintained. The hardwood floors were so clean that you could walk barefoot over them and keep your feet clean. You wouldn’t be able to do that every time on my floor.

The hotel was quiet for our three-night stay, except for a group of partygoers celebrating Mardi Gras. It was great to get some sleep after our long flight. Our room had a microwave, refrigerator, and sitting area.

The room we stayed in was smaller and did not have a sitting area. Both rooms are suitable for your next visit to Buenos Aires.

The hotel is situated in Palermo’s tree-lined streets, just a few streets from many great cafes. Vitrum has a sushi restaurant, but many other restaurants are nearby, including pizza, pasta and platters of Argentina-style grilled beef. [Is December suitable for travelling?]

6. Salzburg, Austria

After 12 years, I still remember my visit to Salzburg. Salzburg is located on the northern edge of the Alps, and Vienna is Austria’s capital.

Many trains run from Vienna to Salzburg. The journey takes only 3 hours. From Vienna to Salzburg, it takes about 3 hours.

I’ve stayed at Youth hostels. Youth hostels can be found for as little as 15 euros. You should walk the whole way if you have time. City buses (StadtBus) are available. Salzburg is a city that must be seen.

In September, I visited Salzburg. The Hotel Meininger is a great place to stay, with its convenient location, affordable price, cleanliness, and guest kitchen that you can use for free.

We visited many places in and around Salzburg, including Mirabell Gardens (highly recommended), Fort Hohenfestang(highly recommendable), Ice caves (free to use), Werfen, etc.

Avoid Innsbruck and Salzburg if you’re visiting Austria. Would return and visit the countryside, like St Gilgen, which I missed. [Is December suitable for travelling?]

7. Hong Kong

As there’s no way for me to review a place on TripAdvisor, I thought it would be a good idea to tell all of you interested in visiting Hong Kong what the actual experience is like.

Most locals will try to scam you. Taxi drivers will sometimes say that you must pay twice as much for the meter, and you cannot argue with them because they have taken a longer route to make you late.

They sometimes drive in circles to add extra money to the meter, thinking you won’t notice. Then, they pretend they are doing the right thing because they can’t understand English.

When they know you’re a tourist, the people who run market stalls will double or triple their prices.

Do not buy those cute USBs you see everywhere. While I was at the Ladies’ Market, a family discovered they were all fakes. They do not work.

The family was unable to get a refund as there were no receipts. Hong Kong is known for its low prices, but the quality of its products is not.

All mainland visitors are obsessed with taking pictures everywhere. They always get in your way when you finally have the opportunity to take a picture after everyone else has pushed you aside. [Is December suitable for travelling?]

8. Munich, Germany

The Rosewood has been awaited in Munich for more than a decade. It is already a hit. This old-meets-new property is a winner with its combination of repurposed historical spaces, elegantly appointed rooms, large public areas (including beautiful indoor/outdoor courts), a jazzy bar, and a charming Spa area with Rosewood signature treatments.

The Rosewood Munich is made up of two historic buildings. One, the former headquarters of the State Bank of Bavaria built in 1894, was a former residence of aristocratic families called Palais Neuhaus Preysing.

Bayerische Hausbau, a private real estate company, took over the buildings after the bank left the building in 2012. Rosewood was the ideal partner for them in .

The brand is known for its focus on preserving history and culture. The imposing facade, which features sculptures made of Bavarian stone, remains.

However, the interior was entirely redesigned by Hilmer Sattler Architekten Ahlers Albrecht in a contemporary, airy style.

Original elements, such as the grand staircase and elaborate frescoes, were also preserved. The combination of modernity and history has created a property which is very much today while keeping its past in the forefront. [Is December suitable for travelling?]

9. Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo is the capital of Japan and a sprawling metropolis. It’s one of the most densely populated cities on the planet.

Tokyo is a great place to visit. It’s known for its friendly locals, excellent public transportation, shopping and nightlife.

There is something for everyone in Tokyo, whether you want to go hiking Mount Fuji, visit Tokyo Disneyland, watch a sumo wrestlers tournament, or simply enjoy the sights. The train system is easy to use, even though it might initially seem intimidating.

Remember that there are 2 train systems in Japan (the JR and subway lines). Sometimes, the fastest way to reach your destination is by using both.

Tokyo is too large to visit in one trip. It covers more than 2000 square kilometres (approximately 850 square miles).

There is something for everyone in Tokyo, from the modern cityscapes and ancient temples to shrines. Deciding where to go with 23 special wards and 40 different districts or neighbourhoods can be challenging.
